"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Song Meme

Now with the answers!!

Stolen from Annika and Helen

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.

Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.

Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.

AND DON'T CHEAT!!!

Okay, most of this list totally shows my age. And the age of my lovely husband, whose iPod this actually is. At least one of them I would only expect Ray to get, but most of the others are pretty familiar.

Not dead yet!!

Yes, I am still alive and occasionally kicking. I just haven't felt much like writing lately, most likely because there is a very painful entry sitting just over there that I am trying to ignore. But all that energy spent ignoring VPE is sapping any other inspiration. That, and watching far too much television.

Speaking of television, my recording schedule is totally fucked up by the return of Alias. Wednesday nights are a juggling act, anyway, what with a CSI, a cheap imitator, models and amazing races. Bones is most likely going to be sacrificed. *sigh*, Sorry DB.

Hey, does anyone else find themselves thinking "Hey! I love this song!" while listening to their iPod on shuffle? Yeah, that's what I thought.

The weather is absolutely glorious today, sunny and warm with just a touch of breeze. Apparently, we have colder, wetter weather around the corner, but right now I feel like I should be on my boat, drinking some wine and looking out over the water. Instead, I will probably settle for bare legs and a pretty skirt at work tomorrow.

Italy planning is going well, although I think we may have to skip Florence this time. I have been there before and although I loved it, I think that given our limited time (and Grant's reluctance to build a holiday around museums and cathedrals), our time might be better spent in Venice. I am still hoping to squeeze in Siena, though.

Okay, better escape before VPE realizes I am not playing online poker. Until next time...

Italia!! (and Austria, too)

The concert band we travelled to Switzerland with last year has gotten an invitation to perform at a festival in Schladming, Austria this year, and they have asked us to come along again. They are also performing in Modena, Italy, so we are going a week early and travelling up from Rome.

Woot!

Our tentative plans are a few days in Rome, 3 days in Florence (with some possible side trips to Lucca and Sienna) and then on to Venice for a day or two. Then we are off to Austria with the band. If any of you have any recommendations for hotels, restaurants, etc. for those areas, we would love to hear them.

Heffalumps and minkeys, too!

About a week ago, I opened my mailbox to see one of those keys that tells me I have a package waiting. I racked my brain to try and remember what exactly I had bought at eBay recently and came up a total blank. Then I saw the Kentucky return address and I knew exactly what was in the box!

A few years ago, Grant and I drove to Disney World for a conference. Well, Grant had the conference--the only conference I had was with the swimming pool and the wildlife at Animal Kingdom. On the way home, we decided to swing by Tallahassee to meet Tina from the WD. We went out for dinner and then for pool and we sang at a karaoke bar and had a really nice time. Tina had a purse she had bought at Walmart that I thought was just the cutest thing; a detail I have mentioned to her on more than one occasion.

Sure enough, I opened the box to find one of the cutest purses EVER!

And, look, Annika! There's a monkey, too!!

Doesn't Tina rock??? I love having creepy Internet friends.
